who we are
EcoRun Varese was founded in 2019 from the initiative of a group of friends who are runners, who, in conjunction with the Granfondo Tre Valli Varesine and in collaboration with the Binda Society, set themselves the goal of promoting amateur running events in the heart of Varese.
The event, which includes timed races and non-competitive walks among the natural and architectural beauties of the “Garden City,” immediately embraced a strong solidarity vocation, supporting local charitable associations every year such as CENTRO GULLIVER, A.N.D.O.S., A.S.B.I., CAOS, AIL, AIRC, ADIUVARE.
In 2021, after the forced break due to the pandemic, the EcoRun Varese Amateur Sports Association was officially established, with the aim of organizing an annual event that combines sport, nature, and community.
In addition to the races, the initiative is enriched with meetings and conferences on health, environment, and well-being.
The objectives of EcoRun Varese:
- Promote well-being through physical activity and a healthy lifestyle
- Enhance the Varese area and its livability
- Educate about prevention of any type of addiction
- Raise awareness about respect for the environment and good sustainability practices
- Involve schools, associations, and local organizations in a shared project
- Support two volunteer associations every year, recipients of a large part of the race registration fees.
All this is possible thanks to the tireless commitment of the volunteers, the true beating heart of the event, and the collaboration with numerous local associations that, through the Sport Village, help create a virtuous network of sports, social, and cultural organizations.
EcoRun Varese is an open and inclusive project, welcoming people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds, promoting active participation and a sense of community.
The support of sponsors, institutions, and local authorities is also fundamental, as they believe in the values of the initiative and make its growth possible year after year.
For this 7th edition of EcoRun Varese, the designated charities are:
- Centro Gulliver Varese, a long-standing partner of EcoRun Varese;
- Amico Fragile ODV-ETS, committed to supporting women who are victims of violence, as well as the perpetrators. Participating in the event, which goes well beyond the running and sporting aspects, but features a rich program of initiatives for all ages, means making a concrete contribution to projects of care, prevention, psychological support and social reintegration.
